A hackle built for fiber artists who want clean, aligned prep — every time. With .25" tine spacing and tempered stainless steel tines, the Standard Wool/Fiber Hackle handles everything from coarse fleece to fine blends, making it the workhorse of a well-equipped fiber studio. Load it, comb it, diz off your roving — and get back to spinning.
Key Features:
- ✓ Sharp, sturdy tines with 3–3.75" exposed length
- ✓ Tempered stainless steel tines — Won't rust or deteriorate over time
- ✓ Available in 1, 2, or 3 rows
- ✓ Handles all fiber types and lengths
- ✓ Works perfectly with a diz to make your own roving
- ✓ Unique tapered design with 45° chamfered edges
About This Hackle
Overall dimensions are between six and twenty-two inches by 1 1/4" by 1". The tines are seated ½" deep following the taper — strictly an aesthetic choice, except on the 3" hackle which is designed to be used as a fixed comb attached to a table. Each tine drops down an amount equal to the taper on each side, finished with a 45° chamfer on all edges. These provide a full 3", 6", 12", or 18" of working space from end to end. A total of between 12 and 213 tines.
Note: The 3" size refers to the equivalent comb head width — this hackle was designed as a direct replacement for a comb and combing pad setup at a comparable price point. The working tine area is 3".
As a tool for combing, de-vegging, straightening, aligning, and the overall general prepping of your fiber for spinning or carding. Creating roving is super easy with a diz — load on your mix of fibers and gently pull your roving through the hole as you glide along the width of the hackle.
