Why You Need These Covers:

Wool comb tines are sharp and can cause injury when left exposed. These covers provide essential protection during storage, transport, and when combs are left unattended. The precision-fit design ensures no play between the wood and tines, while the paracord cinch system keeps covers securely attached. Perfect for protecting your investment, preventing accidents, and ensuring safety around curious children or pets.

How to Use:

Slip the non-adjustable loop around the comb handle. Gently find one end of the tines and carefully slide the cover over (some careful adjustment may be necessary after use). Slide all the way down. Bring the adjustable side over to the end of the handle and slide the knot until taut. The sliding knot can be tightened if necessary by pulling on the opposite ends.

Paracord Construction:

Each cover features 275 paracord with an alpine knot that won't slip or become unadjusted. The ends pass through precision holes, wrap around the handle, and tie with a lanyard (diamond) knot that acts as a cinch. The sliding knot tightens toward the top and won't adjust until you remove it — functional and attractive.

GENERAL PRODUCT SAFETY REGULATION (GPSR) INFORMATION

Intended Use:
Handcrafted protective wooden cover designed for use with compatible Riley Wood and Fiber Art Wool Combs.

Depending on the option selected, this listing may include:

• One Wool Comb Cover

OR

• Two Wool Comb Covers

Each cover uses a paracord sliding-knot retention system to help secure it over the sharp tine field of a compatible Wool Comb.

The cover is intended to reduce accidental contact with the sharp comb tines during storage, transport, and periods when the comb is not in use.

The cover does not eliminate the hazard presented by the sharp tines and should not be treated as a substitute for careful handling.

CAUTION — SHARP TINES REMAIN A HAZARD

Wool Combs contain sharp metal tines.

Even when a cover is installed:

• Handle the comb carefully

• Keep hands and fingers away from the tine area

• Do not press against the covered tine field

• Keep covered combs away from children and pets

• Do not place heavy objects on the covered tine area

• This is a protective accessory for a fiber-processing tool, not a toy

BEFORE EACH USE

Inspect each comb cover before installation.

Do not use or rely on a cover if:

• The wood is cracked, split, severely warped, or damaged

• The paracord is badly frayed, cut, loose, or damaged

• The sliding knot does not hold securely

• The cover no longer fits the intended comb correctly

• The cover cannot remain securely positioned over the tine field

• Any damage could allow the sharp tines to become unexpectedly exposed

COMPATIBILITY

Use each cover only with the compatible Riley Wood and Fiber Art Wool Comb size or configuration for which it was made.

Before installation, confirm that:

• The cover fits over the intended tine field

• The cover can be positioned without forcing or bending the tines

• The paracord retention system can be secured normally

• The cover remains stable when properly installed

Do not force an incorrectly sized or incompatible cover onto a Wool Comb.

INSTALLING THE COVER

Before installing a cover:

• Stop using the comb

• Remove loose fiber from the tine field

• Hold or place the comb securely

• Keep hands and fingers away from the tine points

Carefully position the cover over the tine field.

Do not drag or force the cover across the tine points.

PARACORD SLIDING-KNOT RETENTION

Each cover uses a paracord sliding-knot system to help hold it securely in place.

After positioning the cover:

• Adjust the sliding knot until the cover is held securely

• Confirm the paracord is not caught on or pressing against the tine points

• Confirm the cover does not lift or slide off unexpectedly

• Do not overtighten the paracord to the point that the cover, cord, or comb could be damaged

Before carrying or storing the covered comb, gently check that the cover remains secure.

REMOVING THE COVER

Hold or place the comb securely before removing the cover.

Loosen the paracord sliding knot in a controlled manner.

Keep hands and fingers away from the tine field.

Carefully lift the cover away from the tines.

Once the cover is removed, the sharp tines are fully exposed.

SAFE HANDLING

The cover is intended primarily for protection while the Wool Comb is not being used.

Do not:

• Use the Wool Comb while the protective cover is installed

• Carry the entire Wool Comb solely by holding the cover

• Rely on the cover to support the weight of the comb

• Force the cover onto an incompatible comb

• Modify the cover or paracord retention system to fit another tool

If the cover becomes loose or no longer fits correctly, discontinue use until the cause has been corrected.

IMPORTANT — COVERS REDUCE, BUT DO NOT ELIMINATE, THE HAZARD

The protective cover reduces the likelihood of accidental contact with the sharp tines.

It does not make the Wool Comb safe for children or eliminate the need for careful handling.

Even with the cover installed:

• Do not press against the tine area

• Do not place heavy objects on the cover

• Do not carry or store the comb in a way that could cause the cover to release

• Keep away from children and pets

CARE

• Remove loose fiber and debris from the cover as needed

• Keep the wooden cover clean and dry

• Keep the paracord clean and dry

• Do not soak or submerge the cover in water

• Do not use harsh cleaners, solvents, or chemicals that could damage the wood or paracord

• Wipe with a soft dry or slightly damp cloth when necessary

• Allow the cover to dry completely before storage if it becomes damp

• Periodically inspect the wood, paracord, and sliding knot

STORAGE

When the Wool Comb is not in use:

• Install the cover correctly where practical

• Secure the cover using the paracord sliding knot

• Confirm the cover remains properly positioned

Store the cover and comb:

• In a clean, dry location

• Away from children and pets

• Away from excessive moisture

• Protected from heavy impacts or crushing

• Where the cover cannot be accidentally knocked loose

Do not place heavy objects directly on the cover or tine area.

DISCONTINUE USE

Stop using or relying on a comb cover if:

• The wood cracks or splits

• The cover becomes significantly warped

• The paracord becomes badly frayed, cut, or damaged

• The sliding knot no longer holds securely

• The cover no longer fits the intended comb properly

• The cover can release unexpectedly

• Damage allows the sharp tine points to become unexpectedly exposed
