GENERAL PRODUCT SAFETY REGULATION (GPSR) INFORMATION

Intended Use:
Handcrafted fixed-setting yarn swift designed to hold skeins of yarn for controlled winding or unwinding.

The Swift may be used by crocheters, knitters, spinners, and weavers for handling skeins of yarn.

Product Construction:
• Base with rubber feet
• Rotating carousel
• Four removable arms
• Four removable 3/8" wooden dowels
• One 1/4" handle
• One washer

The arms contain predrilled holes that provide fixed setup positions.

This Swift is not continuously adjustable. Use only the existing predrilled holes and corresponding dowel positions.


CAUTION — ROTATING TOOL

The carousel and arms rotate during normal use.

• Keep fingers, hands, hair, loose clothing, jewelry, and other objects clear of the rotating arms and dowels

• Maintain control of the Swift while winding or unwinding yarn

• Do not reach into or through the rotating Swift

• Stop rotation completely before changing dowel positions or making adjustments

• Do not make adjustments while yarn is under tension

• Keep away from children and pets

• This is a yarn-handling tool, not a toy


BEFORE EACH USE

Inspect the Swift before use.

Do not use the Swift if:

• The base, carousel, or an arm is cracked, split, severely warped, or damaged

• A 3/8" wooden dowel is cracked, split, bent, excessively worn, or damaged

• A predrilled arm hole is cracked, enlarged, or damaged

• The 1/4" handle is loose, cracked, or damaged

• The rotating carousel binds or does not rotate normally

• A component is missing

• Any component has become unstable

• Any other damage could interfere with safe or normal operation


ASSEMBLY

Place the base on a stable, level work surface.

Make sure the rubber feet are in contact with the supporting surface.

Install all four arms securely into the rotating carousel.

Install the 1/4" handle in its intended location.

Confirm that:

• All four arms are fully and correctly installed

• The handle is properly seated

• The carousel rotates freely

• The base remains stable

Do not use the Swift with an arm missing or improperly installed.


SETTING THE DOWEL POSITIONS

Select the appropriate existing predrilled hole position on one arm.

Insert one 3/8" wooden dowel fully into the selected hole.

Place the remaining three dowels into the corresponding hole position on the other three arms.

All four dowels should be positioned an equal distance from the center of the Swift.

Before loading yarn, confirm that:

• All four dowels are fully seated

• All four dowels are in matching corresponding positions

• No dowel is loose

• No dowel is cracked or damaged

• The setup is balanced and even


DO NOT MODIFY THE FIXED SETTINGS

The predrilled holes are the intended adjustment positions for this Swift.

Do not:

• Drill additional holes

• Enlarge the existing holes

• Modify the arms to create additional settings

• Force oversized dowels into the holes

• Substitute incompatible rods or dowels

Modifying the arms or using incompatible components may weaken the Swift or create an unstable rotating setup.


LOADING A SKEIN

Stop the Swift completely before loading yarn.

Place the skein around all four dowels.

Confirm that:

• The skein is supported by all four dowels

• All four dowels remain fully seated

• The yarn is not excessively stretched

• The yarn is not caught underneath an arm or component

• The skein can move freely as the Swift rotates

If the selected fixed position does not accommodate the skein appropriately, stop and select another existing predrilled position if suitable.

Do not force the skein to fit an inappropriate setting.


SAFE USE

Begin rotating the Swift slowly and confirm that the skein feeds normally.

During use:

• Keep hands clear of the rotating arms and dowels

• Maintain a controlled winding speed

• Do not spin the Swift unnecessarily fast

• Do not place objects in the path of the rotating arms

• Do not remove or reposition a dowel while the Swift is rotating

• Do not make adjustments while yarn is under tension

If the yarn tangles, catches, or stops feeding normally:

• Stop the Swift

• Release or reduce yarn tension

• Correct the problem

• Confirm all four dowels remain securely seated

• Resume only after the setup is stable


BALANCE

All four dowels must be placed in matching corresponding hole positions.

Uneven dowel positioning may:

• Cause irregular rotation

• Create unnecessary vibration

• Make the skein difficult to manage

• Increase the likelihood of yarn slipping from a dowel

Recheck all four dowel positions whenever the setup is changed.


HANDLE

Use the 1/4" handle only for its intended function on the Swift.

Before use:

• Confirm the handle is properly installed

• Make sure it is not cracked, loose, or damaged

Do not use excessive force on the handle.

Do not use the handle to lift or carry the complete assembled Swift.


STABLE WORK SURFACE

Use the Swift on a stable, level surface.

The rubber feet are intended to help stabilize the base during normal use.

Before winding:

• Confirm that all rubber feet contact the surface normally

• Make sure the Swift does not rock or tip

• Keep the work surface free from objects that could interfere with the rotating arms

Stop use if the base begins moving excessively during operation.


CARE

• Remove loose yarn and fiber after use

• Keep wooden components clean and dry

• Do not soak or submerge the Swift in water

• Do not use harsh cleaners, solvents, or chemicals that could damage the wood or components

• Wipe with a soft dry or slightly damp cloth when necessary

• Allow all components to dry completely before storage if they become damp

• Periodically inspect the dowels, arms, predrilled holes, handle, carousel, and base for wear or damage


STORAGE

The Swift is designed to be disassembled for compact storage.

For storage:

• Remove yarn from the Swift

• Remove the four 3/8" wooden dowels

• Remove the arms and handle

• Keep the washer and small components together

• Store the Swift flat where practical

• Store in a clean, dry location

• Protect the arms and dowels from bending, crushing, or impact

• Avoid excessive heat and moisture


DISCONTINUE USE

Stop using the Swift if:

• A wooden component cracks or splits

• An arm or 3/8" dowel becomes damaged

• A predrilled hole becomes cracked, enlarged, or unable to hold the dowel securely

• The carousel binds or becomes unstable

• The handle becomes loose or damaged

• The Swift cannot remain stable on the work surface

• Any condition develops that could interfere with safe or controlled rotation
