Why Choose These Bobbins?

These bobbins represent precision craftsmanship at its finest. Each bobbin is CNC-machined from premium maple for perfect balance and smooth rotation, then hand-finished with an eco-friendly coating for an extremely smooth surface. The dual pulley system gives you flexibility in your spinning ratios, while the generous 6-8 oz capacity means fewer bobbin changes during long spinning sessions. Whether you're working with fine merino or medium-weight blends, these bobbins support your creative flow with reliable, consistent performance.

Compatibility:

Designed to work seamlessly with most standard spinning wheels that have a flyer with a 1/4" diameter shaft and accommodate a 5 1/16" long bobbin. The universal sizing ensures these bobbins will fit a wide range of wheel models.

Bulk Pricing — Save More:

Buy multiple bobbins and save! Pricing automatically adjusts when you select quantity — the more you buy, the more you save (up to $7.50 per bobbin). All orders ship free.

Limited Availability:

These bobbins are crafted in small batches due to the precision CNC machining and hand-finishing required. Each bobbin represents hours of careful work to ensure perfect balance and smooth performance. Current inventory is limited — when they're gone, restocking may take time.

GENERAL PRODUCT SAFETY REGULATION (GPSR) INFORMATION

Intended Use:
Handcrafted spinning wheel bobbin designed to hold spun yarn on compatible spinning wheels.

Product Specifications:
• Maple hardwood
• Overall length: 5 1/16" / 128.6 mm
• Overall diameter: 3 1/4" / 82.6 mm
• Core diameter: 7/8" / 22.2 mm
• Bore diameter: 1/4" / 6.4 mm
• Dual pulley diameters: 1" and 1 3/8"
• Approximate yarn capacity: 6–8 oz, depending on fiber and yarn construction

Compatibility:
The spinning wheel must accommodate a bobbin approximately 5 1/16" long and a 1/4" flyer shaft.

Compatibility should be confirmed before use. Do not force the bobbin onto an incompatible flyer or spinning wheel.

CAUTION — ROTATING COMPONENT

Once installed, the bobbin becomes part of a rotating mechanical system.

• Stop the spinning wheel completely before installing, removing, repositioning, or inspecting the bobbin

• Keep fingers, hands, loose clothing, hair, jewelry, and other objects away from the bobbin, flyer, drive band, and other moving components while the wheel is operating

• Do not reach toward or attempt to adjust the bobbin while it is rotating

• Keep away from children and pets

• This is a spinning-wheel component, not a toy

BEFORE EACH USE

Inspect the bobbin before installation.

Do not use the bobbin if:

• The wood is cracked, split, chipped, severely warped, or structurally damaged

• The bore is damaged, obstructed, or excessively worn

• A pulley is cracked, damaged, or significantly worn

• The bobbin does not slide normally onto the intended flyer shaft

• The bobbin does not rotate freely

• The bobbin rubs against unintended wheel components

• Any damage could interfere with safe or normal operation

COMPATIBILITY & FIT

Before installation, confirm that:

• The spinning wheel can accommodate the bobbin's overall length and diameter

• The flyer shaft is compatible with the 1/4" bore

• The bobbin can rotate freely on the flyer shaft

• The selected pulley can align properly with the applicable drive system

• The bobbin does not contact or bind against the flyer, whorl, frame, or other wheel components

Do not enlarge, drill, sand, or otherwise modify the bore in an attempt to make an incompatible bobbin fit.

INSTALLATION

Stop the spinning wheel completely before installing the bobbin.

Install the bobbin according to the spinning-wheel manufacturer's normal procedure.

After installation, confirm that:

• The bobbin is fully and correctly seated

• The bobbin rotates freely

• The drive band or brake system is correctly positioned where applicable

• No part of the bobbin contacts an unintended surface

• The bobbin does not wobble excessively

Rotate the wheel slowly by hand before normal operation to confirm that the bobbin moves freely.

DUAL PULLEYS

The bobbin includes two pulley diameters.

Use only the pulley position appropriate for the spinning-wheel setup and intended operating configuration.

Before operating the wheel:

• Confirm that the drive or brake band is correctly seated

• Make sure the band is not twisted or pinched

• Confirm that the band tracks normally

• Do not force an incompatible band into a pulley groove

SAFE USE

Begin spinning at a controlled speed after installation.

Observe the bobbin during initial rotation.

Confirm that:

• The bobbin rotates smoothly

• No unusual wobble, vibration, rubbing, or binding occurs

• The drive or brake system tracks normally

• Yarn winds onto the bobbin without interfering with surrounding wheel components

If the bobbin begins to wobble, bind, rub, or behave unusually:

• Stop the wheel

• Inspect the bobbin and flyer

• Confirm compatibility and installation

• Check the bore and pulley areas

• Correct the cause before continuing

YARN CAPACITY

Approximate yarn capacity is 6–8 oz.

Actual capacity depends on fiber type, yarn diameter, twist, density, and winding method.

Do not continue adding yarn if the wound yarn begins to:

• Contact the flyer or surrounding wheel components

• Interfere with free rotation

• Extend beyond the usable bobbin area

• Cause abnormal vibration or imbalance

CARE

• Remove loose fiber, yarn, and debris after use

• Keep the bobbin clean and dry

• Do not soak or submerge the bobbin in water

• Do not use harsh cleaners or chemicals that could damage the wood

• Periodically inspect the bore and pulley grooves for wear or buildup

• Keep the bore free of debris that could interfere with rotation

• Do not intentionally oil or lubricate the wooden bobbin unless appropriate for the spinning-wheel system and wood finish

STORAGE

Store the bobbin:

• In a clean, dry location

• Away from excessive heat or moisture

• Protected from crushing and heavy impact

• Where the pulley edges cannot be damaged

• Away from oils, solvents, and harsh chemicals

Do not place heavy objects on the bobbin.

DISCONTINUE USE

Stop using the bobbin if:

• Cracks or splits develop

• The bore becomes damaged or excessively worn

• A pulley is damaged

• The bobbin no longer rotates freely

• Excessive wobble develops

• The bobbin repeatedly rubs or binds despite correct installation

• Any structural damage develops that could interfere with normal operation
