Intended Use:
Handcrafted matched pair of Fine Tooth Wool Combs designed for processing, aligning, opening, and blending suitable wool and other compatible fibers by hand.

Fine Tooth Wool Combs use closely spaced sharp metal tines intended for finer fiber preparation.

CAUTION — SHARP METAL TINES

The combs contain numerous sharp metal tines capable of causing puncture or cut injuries.

• Handle the combs only by their wooden handles

• Keep hands, fingers, face, and other body parts away from the tine points

• Keep loose clothing, jewelry, hair, and other objects clear of the tines

• Keep combs away from children and pets

• Do not leave uncovered combs where someone could accidentally contact the tines

• These are fiber-processing tools, not toys


BEFORE EACH USE

Inspect both combs before use.

Do not use either comb if:

• The wooden body or handle is cracked, split, loose, or structurally damaged

• Any tine is loose, severely bent, broken, or damaged

• Hazardous splinters or sharp damaged wood edges are present

• The combs can no longer be held or controlled securely

• Any other condition could interfere with safe fiber preparation


MATCHED-PAIR USE

These combs are supplied as a matched pair.

Before use:

• Confirm both combs are structurally sound

• Confirm the tine fields are undamaged

• Use one comb in each hand only when you can maintain controlled movement and adequate clearance

• Keep the combs oriented so the tine points remain away from your body

Do not strike the combs together or allow the tine fields to collide.


FINE TOOTH CONFIGURATION

Fine Tooth Wool Combs have closely spaced tines.

This configuration is intended for controlled preparation of appropriate fibers.

Because the tines are closely spaced:

• Work with manageable amounts of fiber

• Avoid overloading the tine field

• Do not force dense, matted, heavily felted, or resistant fiber through the combs

• Reduce the amount of fiber if excessive resistance develops

• Stop and remove tangled material rather than forcing the combs through it

Excessive force can reduce control and may damage the tines or wooden comb body.


LOADING FIBER

Load fiber carefully onto the tine field.

• Keep fingers behind and away from the tine points

• Add fiber in controlled amounts

• Do not push fiber onto the tines with the palm of your hand

• Do not force fiber down toward the wooden base of the tines

• Keep the comb securely controlled while loading

Use only enough fiber to allow the combs to move freely and predictably.


SAFE COMBING

While combing:

• Maintain a firm grip on both wooden handles

• Work slowly and deliberately

• Keep the tine fields away from your body

• Keep other people and pets outside the working area

• Maintain enough space for the full movement of both combs

• Avoid sudden or uncontrolled movements

• Stop immediately if a comb slips or your grip becomes unstable

Do not use excessive force to pull one comb through the other.


TINE CONTACT

The metal tines are intentionally sharp.

Do not:

• Touch or test the tine points with your fingers

• Use your hand to clear fiber from between sharp tines

• Catch falling combs

• Carry combs with the tine points directed toward your body

• Place uncovered combs tine-side-up on chairs, floors, or other locations where accidental contact could occur

Use an appropriate tool or controlled method to remove trapped fiber without placing fingers among the tines.


WORK AREA

Use the combs in a stable, well-lit work area.

Keep the work surface free from unnecessary objects.

Maintain sufficient clearance so neither comb can accidentally contact:

• Another person

• Pets

• Furniture

• Walls

• Other tools

• Fragile objects

Do not use the combs while distracted or in a position where controlled movement cannot be maintained.


TINE CARE

Periodically inspect the tines for:

• Looseness

• Severe bending

• Breakage

• Corrosion

• Other damage

A slightly misaligned tine should not be forced back into position while holding the comb unsafely.

Discontinue use if tine damage could create an unpredictable or hazardous condition.


WOODEN COMPONENTS

The comb bodies and handles are made from natural wood.

Natural variations may include:

• Grain

• Color

• Figure

• Texture

• Surface appearance

These variations are expected.

Wood may respond to changes in temperature and humidity.

Discontinue use if structural cracking, splitting, severe warping, or hazardous splintering develops.


CARE

• Remove loose fiber from the combs after use

• Keep the wooden components clean and dry

• Keep the metal tines dry

• Do not soak or submerge the combs in water

• Do not place the combs in a dishwasher

• Do not use harsh cleaners, solvents, or chemicals that could damage the wood or metal

• Wipe wooden surfaces with a soft dry or slightly damp cloth when necessary

• Dry all components completely if they become damp

• Inspect the tines and wooden structure regularly


STORAGE

When not in use:

• Store both combs in a clean, dry location

• Protect the tine fields from accidental contact

• Use compatible protective covers where available

• Keep the combs away from children and pets

• Do not place heavy objects on the tines

• Do not store the combs where the tine points can contact or damage other objects

• Keep away from excessive moisture and corrosive environments


DISCONTINUE USE

Stop using either comb if:

• A tine becomes loose, severely bent, broken, or otherwise hazardous

• The wooden body or handle cracks, splits, or becomes structurally damaged

• Hazardous splinters develop

• The comb becomes difficult to control safely

• Severe warping affects normal use
