Fine-Tooth Wool/Fiber Comb - Single Comb

GENERAL PRODUCT SAFETY REGULATION (GPSR) INFORMATION

Intended Use:
Handcrafted single Standard Wool Comb designed for processing, opening, aligning, and blending suitable wool and other compatible fibers by hand.

This listing includes one Standard Wool Comb.

Exact tine count, spacing, and row configuration may vary by selected product configuration. Refer to the selected product option for the specific comb specifications.

This single comb may be used by itself or with a compatible Riley Wood and Fiber Art Wool Comb or Wool Hackle where appropriate.


CAUTION — SHARP METAL TINES

The comb contains numerous sharp metal tines capable of causing puncture or cut injuries.

• Handle the comb only by its wooden handle

• Keep hands, fingers, face, and other body parts away from the tine points

• Keep loose clothing, jewelry, hair, and other objects clear of the tines

• Keep the comb away from children and pets

• Do not leave the uncovered comb where someone could accidentally contact the tines

• This is a fiber-processing tool, not a toy


BEFORE EACH USE

Inspect the comb before use.

Do not use the comb if:

• The wooden body or handle is cracked, split, loose, or structurally damaged

• Any tine is loose, severely bent, broken, or damaged

• Hazardous splinters or sharp damaged wood edges are present

• The comb can no longer be held or controlled securely

• Any other condition could interfere with safe fiber preparation


LOADING FIBER

Load fiber carefully onto the tine field.

• Keep fingers behind and away from the tine points

• Add fiber in controlled amounts

• Do not push fiber onto the tines with the palm of your hand

• Do not force fiber down toward the wooden base of the tines

• Keep the comb securely controlled while loading

Avoid overloading the comb.

If excessive resistance develops, reduce the amount of fiber rather than forcing it through the tine field.


SAFE USE

Maintain a firm grip on the wooden handle during use.

• Work slowly and deliberately

• Keep the tine field oriented away from your body

• Keep other people and pets outside the working area

• Maintain enough space for the full movement of the comb

• Avoid sudden or uncontrolled movements

• Stop immediately if your grip becomes unstable

Do not swing the comb toward yourself or another person.


USE WITH ANOTHER COMB

If using this single comb with a compatible second comb:

• Confirm both combs are structurally sound

• Confirm the tine fields are undamaged

• Maintain controlled movement and adequate clearance

• Keep the tine points directed away from your body

• Avoid allowing the tine fields to collide

Do not use excessive force to pull one comb through the other.


USE WITH A WOOL HACKLE

If using this comb with a compatible Wool Hackle:

• Securely mount the hackle before use

• Maintain a firm grip on the comb handle

• Keep hands clear of both the comb and hackle tine fields

• Work slowly and deliberately

• Maintain sufficient clearance between the comb and mounted hackle

• Do not strike the comb against the hackle

• Do not force the comb tines through the hackle tine field

Stop if excessive resistance develops.


TINE CONTACT

The metal tines are intentionally sharp.

Do not:

• Touch or test the tine points with your fingers

• Use your hand to clear fiber from between sharp tines

• Catch a falling comb

• Carry the comb with the tine points directed toward your body

• Place the uncovered comb tine-side-up on chairs, floors, or other locations where accidental contact could occur

Use an appropriate controlled method to remove trapped fiber without placing fingers among the tines.


WORK AREA

Use the comb in a stable, well-lit work area.

Keep the work surface free from unnecessary objects.

Maintain sufficient clearance so the comb cannot accidentally contact:

• Another person

• Pets

• Furniture

• Walls

• Other tools

• Fragile objects

Do not use the comb while distracted or where controlled movement cannot be maintained.


TINE CARE

Periodically inspect the tines for:

• Looseness

• Severe bending

• Breakage

• Corrosion

• Other damage

Do not continue using the comb if tine damage creates an unpredictable or hazardous condition.

Do not attempt to straighten or repair a tine while holding the comb in a way that exposes your hands to surrounding sharp tines.


WOODEN COMPONENTS

The comb body and handle are made from natural wood.

Natural variations may include:

• Grain

• Color

• Figure

• Texture

• Surface appearance

These variations are expected.

Wood may respond to changes in temperature and humidity.

Discontinue use if structural cracking, splitting, severe warping, or hazardous splintering develops.


CARE

• Remove loose fiber from the comb after use

• Keep the wooden components clean and dry

• Keep the metal tines dry

• Do not soak or submerge the comb in water

• Do not place the comb in a dishwasher

• Do not use harsh cleaners, solvents, or chemicals that could damage the wood or metal

• Wipe wooden surfaces with a soft dry or slightly damp cloth when necessary

• Dry all components completely if they become damp

• Inspect the tine field and wooden structure regularly


STORAGE

When not in use:

• Store the comb in a clean, dry location

• Protect the tine field from accidental contact

• Use a compatible protective cover where available

• Keep the comb away from children and pets

• Do not place heavy objects on the tines

• Do not store the comb where exposed tine points can contact people or damage other objects

• Keep away from excessive moisture and corrosive environments


DISCONTINUE USE

Stop using the comb if:

• A tine becomes loose, severely bent, broken, or otherwise hazardous

• The wooden body or handle cracks, splits, or becomes structurally damaged

• Hazardous splinters develop

• The comb becomes difficult to control safely

• Severe warping affects normal use

• Any condition develops that could interfere with safe fiber preparation
